Thanks for the recs; I'll keep them in mind next time I'm at the library. (My knowledge of the War of 1812 mostly comes from high school history classes, so I'm still under the illusion it's boring. Time to fix that!)

I am all about broody, grumpy protagonists. No, really. It feels strangely familiar, like my life in prose, with less self-concious mocking comedy.
