I was interested to see your take on Winter's Tale, because I have had that sitting on my shelf for literally decades. I... think it might not be my thing... (and sort of makes me regret I didn't read it as an adolescent, when I actually bought the book, and when it might have been a little more my thing).
I am really trying not to read your thoughts on Jole until I've actually read it. I may or may not be successful in that. ETA: SO NOT SUCCESSFUL. Anyway! Biological legacy... I'm interested to see what I think about it, because obviously I'm kind of in the audience of being neck-deep in carving out a biological legacy thingie, but on the other hand I think I may just get irritated at it, especially knowing my share of families with adopted kids. (I always did interpret that biological wealth line as talking about people in general, not just genetically related biological material.)
Re wrangling multiple kids as a fifty-year-old: Presumably Jole and Cordelia will hire a nanny? :)
I think it's interesting that Bujold says Miles' life constricts on his father's death... that would be something interesting to explore. Maybe in fic rather than in canon, though.
