A Poll of Some Personal Significance

Payday Friday! Also 2008 bonus Friday, to my delight. I get to buy the expected plane tickets for my May Wiscon-by-Chicago trip, and I get to buy a camera. Unless sales previews suggest that waiting for Presidents Day will save me cash on either of these.

Isn't the common wisdom to buy your tickets early? If anyone has advice on where to get cheap plane tickets, I'll take it.

Ever since Marcon and Wiscon moved to the same weekend, and Marcon is only 15 miles from home, we can't get to Wiscon any more. bummer.

Call Karl Ginter (Erica's husband) and ask him how much tickets to Chicago should cost, then haunt Kayak.com until you find a flight in the right price range.

In general, you want to buy airplane tickets about 2-3 months out. It's far enough out they aren't out to screw the last minute travelers, but too far out and they figure you really want to be there on that particular date. Which we do.

However, right now there is a major fare sale going on at Southwest, and most of the other airlines have moved some of their prices to match. This may be your best chance right now.
