A Poll of Some Personal Significance

Payday Friday! Also 2008 bonus Friday, to my delight. I get to buy the expected plane tickets for my May Wiscon-by-Chicago trip, and I get to buy a camera. Unless sales previews suggest that waiting for Presidents Day will save me cash on either of these.

Isn't the common wisdom to buy your tickets early? If anyone has advice on where to get cheap plane tickets, I'll take it.

Specifically, don't just go to Southwest.com and take whatever they give you. It is often cheaper to fly on other airlines, depending on fees etc.
