Today I blew out of work early to replace a cracked glasses lens during business hours. It was very strange to be home before 7 PM on a week night. I used the extra time to get some biking in, and had a brainwave and bought my grandmother a mom's day card. The grandparent-grandchild relationship is mercifully less fraught than the parent-child one, with much lower expectations all around. I also passed an American Red Cross blood drive and tried to donate: my vein collapsed about 10% short of the finish line. I'm 2 for 2 on my right-arm vein collapsing while donating, so I'm calling it a wash and campaigning for other people to give blood. Unless - hey, knowledgeable people! If my right arm is useless, is my left arm likely to have better veins? I'm intensely irritated that I can't do the easy do-gooder blood donation thing. I let myself be stabbed with a finger stick and a big honkin' needle and it didn't work. So, DC people: the Red Cross HQ on E Street is set up for donating. Go forth and save lives.

I also used library computers for CD-reading shenanigans; I am again displeased with my laptop's CD-DVD RW drive (lies, all lies) but pleased by my sudden acquisition of files from CDs.

My two TV shows this spring are House and NCIS - formulaic medical soap and formulaic crime drama - which probably means my brain has completely rotted.

How is it already 11:30? Past bedtime for me by hours, ack.
