Still Alive
Feb. 26th, 2011 11:21 pmThere's an inverse correlation between time to post and events to post about; work is happening, classes are happening - anyone want a colorful outline of anemias? - I anticipate limited sleep until April finals. So events pass by: the revolutions of Tunisia and Egypt, represented by a satellite march crowding Market Street's sidewalks, and a tiny Egyptian pro-government counter-rally in Union Square the next week; Libya's convulsions in the background of liver and kidney critical lab values; the Christchurch earthquake shaking distant corners of the reading list.
To many residents' disappointment and my savage delight, San Francisco's hoped-for snow event evaporated into rain, driving rain, liquid unfrozen rain that cleared out by Friday afternoon. Emotions were soothed by a cold but sunny blue-sky Saturday. Inspired, I took a day off from class to achieve other goals: Goodwill, package pickup, taxes, hanging out. So far, I've yet to see a month without flowers - reasons to move to San Francisco #120, the flaky white stuff covering the sidewalk in February? Petals falling from plum blossoms - but this month brings daffodils and ornamentals familiar from March and April in the East. With time pressing, flowering trees and buds are a welcome grace note between work, home, and study spots.
