I have the sort of obsessive love for the LotR books that cannot be slaked by anything that screws up major character development (Faramir, Denethor, and Theoden, I am looking at you!), but I agree that they do look very pretty. I've considered turning the sound off and just looking at it, because (aside from Fireball!Denethor) they look exactly as I had envisioned them.
(Contrast Bridge to Terebithia, which I just watched and shall post on soon, where Leslie Burke didn't look anything like I had imagined.)
