Tonight I made oatmeal raisin cookies instead of eating dinner, and made my gesture of ultimate roommate contempt: I didn't share any. My roommates are fine young women, but at the moment I wish they would go out for coffee and take turns bemoaning the woes of the world. I would happily make dinner, scrub the kitchen (the freezer's getting a bit "ugh") and watch soap operas masquerading as cop shows and medical dramas without blow-by-blows of anyone's work shenanigans.

My own work shenanigans are nonexistent: I put in for a five day weekend around Passover/Easter time, and the cookies are going to work people, because I believe in sharing.

Non-work shenanigans might happen soon: I joined Zipcar. Tomorrow I am calling bio!J in Baltimore and scheduling face time! I am so excited, I am reduced to shouting, "car! Four wheels! Go voom!" like a three year old! Depending how much I use the membership, this is either an plan with an indefinite time frame, or a bridge to actual car ownership. I am surprisingly relieved that I'm committing to a limited set of relatively fixed costs (barring accidents); I wasn't expecting to be so happy just to have predictable costs. (What can I say? Look up "control freak" and there is my picture.)

Something I didn't think about until I read the FAQ was the national zipcar network. It turns out that zipcar members can reserve a car in any city. This is awesome for my urban travel plans.
