I Make Icons!

First haul from the icon project. Ten icons based on the works of Lois McMaster Bujold. The usual requests apply: please comment and credit; feedback/constructive criticism encouraged; an example of constructive criticism would be, "I can't read #6, try increasing the contrast." Some quotes have been tweaked for clarification; I'm aware of this. #9 is a LotR crossover, #10 includes mild profanity. If all that hasn't scared you off please stay for cookies and icons.

I found this post through the lmbujold community, and I really want to take #8. I'm a biology student, so yay for double usage potential - the background even looks a little like a filamentous cyanobacterium! Thank you for making it!

Enjoy! (What type of bio, by the way? I graduated in December with a specialization in cell bio & genetics.) Sometimes I think about making a set of "all true wealth..." icons with bio-specific backgrounds. I think people might or might not want to kill me if I started using microscopy images and BLAST search screencaps as icon backgrounds, but I would be very amused.

Ha, I would also be very amused. There aren't enough icons with BLAST search screencaps.

I'm a senior in the evolutionary biology department, so there's a lot of that, genetics and whatnot, mixed in with bioinformatics. I ended up studying cyanobacteria kind of by accident, and actually am supposed to be writing that thesis right about now. Oh, procrastination.

(I totally didn't just comment in the wrong place or anything.)

You know you've completely lost your mind when you ask people, "excuse me, is that an NCBI screencap, or are you just a bio major too?" Bioinformatics is love, in my opinion. And I am not saying this just because I am a biology and computer junkie. Oh, wait.

I suspect a lot of people wind up sort of falling into stuff. That's why I'm doing fungal research at work. Good luck with your thesis! (You're commenting in the right place. More bio chatter is always awesome, anywhere.)
