On reflection, I've been sort of groggy, disorganized and prone to napping because my internal clock is in conflict with daily 15 hours of sunlight.

I'm so far behind, I'm starting in the middle: when you dump 20 mL of butterscotch schnapps into 30 mL of Trader Joe's vanilla soy milk, you get the most oversweet girly shot known to adult women. A perfect accompaniment to August Rush, which is about how your parents will find you and each other through the magic of music if you're a magic boy from an enchanted one night stand. Torrid emotional script; of course I liked it.

This is what I explained to [livejournal.com profile] hourglasscreate on Saturday afternoon, aka "after That Friday Night". We did errands and caught up on life. Sunday I did bacon and pancakes with strawberries and maple syrup, fried in the bacon fat, with [livejournal.com profile] cidra and her boyfriend. Heart attack central! It was fabulous. K. and I went down to the Folklife Festival - we got through Bhutan and part of NASA before giving up, but didn't see any of the Texas exhibit - then had Chipotle at her place and watched an episode of House. An excellent social weekend; I think this means the apartment is up and running. Watch this space for housewarming party? First I have a trip to Boston.

Boston countdown! Today I went from vague plans to more definite itinerary, got my split ends whacked, and did laundry - clean sheets, what a concept! Tomorrow should be errand day, but I told one of my college friends to come over for dinner and catch-up, so packing's going to get spread over two nights, and errands will be crazy and 11th hour Wednesday after work. The usual travel motto - "going to Boston, not the woods" - will apply, especially since airport security is run on assumptions I have no respect for. Along those lines: the laptop will not be going to Boston. If you need to catch me online - well, you won't. I will have my cell phone.

Laundry done! Tomorrow I will do the Postcard Poll. Miscellaneous items not correctly transitioned yet:

Lunch with [livejournal.com profile] hedda62 last week. Was it only last week? That week went on for what felt like forever (see also "prone to napping"). Granted, accidentally taking a practice GRE - it was timed! I couldn't find a pause key! - didn't help. Seeing [livejournal.com profile] hedda62 did. Help, that is.

The key song in the GRE study mix - which will be kicking in hardcore on July 8th, if I know what's good for me - will be Talking Heads' "Lifetime Piling Up". I know, everyone's shocked I love '80s music. Shocked, I say!

It says something about me that the only software I'm planning to dump in Moya's windows partition is WinAmp and Photoshop. (The magic of Ext2 IFS means one of the formatted-for-Ubuntu ext3 partition gets to be the general data reserve.) Celebrating Ext2 IFS installation by trying to fill the data partition in one long copy-paste. I need: a wireless adaptor/card, a second internal hard drive, and/or DVD-write functionality (which would ease the need for that second drive). Once I've done that, I will possess the most awesome desktop in the my computer hagiography. $200 from now (ha ha ha), Moya will be unstoppable.
