Jan. 18th, 2009 04:20 pmHa ha ha, guess what? Computer people say I broke the baby laptop's software but good! As in, won't get to the command prompt or autoboot from the CD drive good. I foresee time and money spent to fix this.
Note to self: no, no one wants you to chapter-by-chapter blog Regenesis. It would not be entertaining. Half of your comments would be, "Jesus God, Ari. You are not now and never will be the Holy Ghost!" and an \o/ + /o\ tally for Justin and Jordan fights. The other half would be canon-tracking against the rest of the canon and bad ideas in the margins.
I am not a happy music camper. The last playlist I made had issues: one, it was backwards. After I flipped the order, it sucked only a little. I'm fixing it. Two, I need more music in the vein of Are You Out There and The Mountain. Any recs?
Today I made french toast, and wow, was it ever soggy. Here's what I did:
1 egg
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup Silk soy milk (the thick soy milk)
nutmeg and cinnamon to taste
2 slices bread
olive oil
Mix egg, water, soy milk and spices in a bowl. Turn stove to medium. Dash a bit of olive oil in your favorite pan (I use my sautee pan for pretty much everything). Soak bread on both sides and plop in pan. Dribble any leftover egg mixture on top. Flip after several minutes, let the other side cook, and serve.
I think I've got the heat too low, but I'm not ruling out other options.

Date: 2009-01-20 10:36 pm (UTC)According to The Joy of Cooking, it's four eggs to one cup of milk, so roughly 1 egg to 1/4 cup of liquid, for 2 slices. So 2/3 cup of liquid is way too much for the amount of bread.
A little Googling and the info I find is soy milk can be substituted one for one for cow's milk. The caveat is that soy milk flavor varies with the brand, tending to the sweet. I also found this recipe:
Phoebe's French Toast
Ingredients
6 thick slices of bread (any kind but slightly older French or white bread works best)
2 eggs (you can substitute egg replacer)
2/3 cup Silk Soymilk (Silk Nog or Silk Chai make a special treat)
nutmeg or cinnamon to taste
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract (optional)
Preparation
Beat together the egg, milk, spices or flavorings. Heat griddle or skillet at a medium-high heat. Use cooking spray, butter or vegetable oil for cooking. Dip each slice of bread in the liquid mixture, soaking both sides. Put in the skillet and cook on both sides until golden brown. Keep warm in oven turned on low until ready to serve. Serve hot.
Servings
6 pieces of French Toast

French toast will freeze beautifully, so make all 6 slices and have French toast you can just pull out of the freezer.
Don't use olive oil to lube pans, use veg oil or the spray. Olive oil is for cooking foods not lubing - too heavy and leaves odd after taste.
