My missing mp3 player turned up - a couple of hours, two loads of laundry, and an episode and a half of Deep Space Nine later - under a stack of Capclave fliers [personal profile] cathydalek handed me at the last WSFA meeting. My room is much cleaner than it was, and I paid a bill, so yay for missing mp3 players. Next, music reload! Four gigs of playlists and not a thing to listen to.

I also listened to NPR - as unbiased as FOX, in its own way - which touched on the fall of the Republican party (challenged by the at least two twentysomething self-identified Republicans I say hi to every morning at work), Justice David Souter's retirement (rumors that he hung on until the Last Guy was out of office; life must look very different in your 50's and 60's, when you've held a position longer than I've been out of college, and one year is less than 1/50th of your life - what sort of event horizon will you have, at fifty-five?), and didn't say a thing about the hideous forecast, which is positively Seattle-like. If I wanted five days of rain, I would move to Seattle.

Weekend recap: WSFA business meeting on Friday, with bonus general elections. I will no longer be VP as of June 5th (yessss!), which is awesome. I don't want the responsibilities of an officer, I just want to play whack-a-tangent with the gavel. I sincerely wish the best for the new officers (because the better things are for them, the more likely they are to stay officers, and let me off the hook).

Saturday night I hit the Dreamwith Open Beta party, group shot to appear on [community profile] dcmetro tomorrow-ish. Tastee Diner has... diner food. It also had lots of space, and our server was extraordinarily tolerant of a rowdy, self-referential group.

Sunday was [personal profile] synecdochic's monthly s&b, and I was among the DC carpool. I had a fine time until I had to get home and confront my neglected chores. Plus the zipcar detour to get groceries at nine at night, which culminated in $8 of miscellany and $10 of car. So possibly I should have done a little less partying and a little more useful work.

Is it just me or has the US media seriously polarized over the 8 years of the Bush administration? Or were they always like that?

I thought NPR was fairly even-handed, but some of the others, well...

Yay for finding your MP3 player!! :-D

Yay for not being VP! Yay for Dreamwidth (I'm converting quickly)!!
