Fourteen Bujold icons, including (gasp) a cover art icon. Please credit and comment (if you're not sure what I'm talking about, guidelines here) if you use these; I like seeing where these go, and how people use them. Constructive criticism always appreciated!

I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that Monday is International Pixel-Stained Wretch Day (see also [livejournal.com profile] ipstp) and encourage everyone to support the movement. Here, have an icon:

And on to the main show.
1 - 9 Vorkosigan universe; 2 and 3 are variations on a theme.
10 and 11 Chalionverse
12 - 14 Sharing Knife: Beguilement; may be considered spoilers.

Aww nice! *makes me very distracted* and I want to cut out the work I NEED to finish today and get to reading.. :D again.
#10 - that quote always give me a quiver inside, it's so... honest.

(I also found amusing that the spelling mistake in #2 got fixed in #3 ;) )

So anyway *waves* Hi from Bulgaria, and thanks for reminding me of a bit of Bujold goodness!

Hi from America! *Waves back* Do not get distracted - be inspired to get work done! Thanks for the kind words. If you take a second look, the misspelling in #2's been corrected too. Thanks for letting me know about that.

Ah, even better :) (btw, I've snagged a few to my icons gallery - it's here (http://pics.livejournal.com/kikibug13/gallery/0002fgt2) if you're curious - but I must warn it's mostly Doctor Who, David Tennant, and John Barrowman, I'm obsessed these days.)

Oh the work will get done, I only should have gotten up last night to finish it - but slept right through the alarm. *sighs* so there goes the chance to have a walk in the beautiful weather.
Ah well. There's always tomorrow. (and yes, I'm inspired, I've been promising myself the treat to get to read some LMB for oh quite long enough, I think some reading is due soon!)

Aha! That's a different spelling error; apparently, irresistibility is my Kryptonite. Thank you for pointing that out (twice).

Swiping 3 and 11.

#3 is one of my favorite scenes from the Aral and Cordelia bits.

I love them all...except I can't read #1 except for "Freedom".

I'm not sure why, but #11 always gives me chills. I may need to take down 'Paladin' just to re-read that speech.

...except I can't read #1 except for "Freedom".

That was deliberate; it was an experiment. Comments?

I like how #11 turned out, but then, I think blue is the best color in the world. The colors are wrong for a proper Father-ly icon, but that hasn't stopped me yet.

Lovely as art--but I'm not going to use an icon unless I'm sure what I'm saying with it.

I can say, with the authority of the person who made it, that it's the lyrics of Joplin's "Freedom's Just Another Word". However, if it's on the edge of readability, I should've kicked it down a few more font pts and gone over the edge into gratuitous text decoration. Ah well.

I'm paranoid enough that even if I can't read the text I'll worry that someone else will read it and claim it means something horrible. Which may be too paranoid for you to bother with.

OTOH, an artist's note explaining what the text it would soothe that.

BTW, everyone needs to read the Shards of Honor/Barrayar duology. I say this in the highly biased voice of someone who read it in her mid teens and may be a little insensible on the topic.

Interesting phrasing. I wish I knew your likes better, so I could say the appropriate things. There's romance, and there's culture shock, and transparent prose wrapped around flashes of wit. Bujold is very readable, though I am less fond of her fantasy than her SF.

The reason I said that because I have just gone on a PaperbackSwap spree, and between those books and the ones I'd bought before at Half Price Books and not read, I'm swamped :P I'm a fast reader, but... oh my :D

As for my tastes, I believe some of her work was described to me as SF mixed with military, which appeals to me a lot because I'm into American history, particularly government, and particularly military. I don't go for straight fantasy, and I don't go for straight romance, but from what little prose I've absorbed from these icons *g* and the fact that you and [livejournal.com profile] azurelunatic are such fans, it really does seem like something I should check out. It sounds interesting, if nothing else!, and a big part of what i'm reading now is that it is all mostly the same old thing. Different is nice sometimes.
