I took awesome pictures this weekend, and I will post some of them when my camera isn't at the other end of the metro area. For the moment, enjoy some pictures I haven't posted previously.

American flag. Good color, boring composition. This is where I decided I'd mastered the rule of thirds and could start seriously fiddling with manual settings. Auto levels, resizing.

Taken at an "America, Fuck Yeah!" themed party: the latest evolution in punch. No artistic merit, but made me giggle. Auto levels, resizing.

Flowers, species unknown. Anyone who might know ([livejournal.com profile] florentinescot?) is encouraged to chime in. probably Ipheion uniflorum, common name spring starflower. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] hedda62! Auto contrast, resizing.

One of the most beautiful days of my life: micropipette calibration day. Resizing, contrast.

I'm pretty sure the flower is Ipheion uniflorum, spring starflower. Very pretty!

Thanks! I took it on my Williamsburg trip about a month ago.

I like the last one a lot. Something you don't see every day...

...unless, of course, you're, well, _you_. :P

We have a ton of micropipetters. I guess it makes sense, since everyone gets their own set (P20, P200, P1000, maybe a P10 if you're working with lots of seriously tiny quantities), so it adds up quickly. It's unusual to have them all in one place, though.

(Oh. P-whatever is the max fluid quantity the micropipetter's designed for. For example, a P20 maxes out at 20 microliters, though I would be suspicious of the accuracy at the extremes.)

#2 may not have artistic merit, but it's exactly the sort of thing that could go in a scrapbook layout :)

Exactly! Right between the freedom fries and the images of people losing their freedom foods and drinks.

pretty flowers. I'm glad somebody else had a clue, because in this case, I don't!

I heart the pipetters picture. I have the overwhelming urge to steal and iconify .....

I was thinking about doing a science-themed icon set, so if you hold off, you may see some nicely photoshopped icons sometime this week. I've got some petri dish images kicking around my hard drive that could be put to use. Also, check out [livejournal.com profile] 0hsogeekyicons for science icons.

I did some -- pipetters (but IMO your are cooler), PCR machines, tips that sort of thing, but I never posted them. Yeah, I like [livejournal.com profile] ohsogeekyicons!
